(SF170) Development Planner
Our long term client, Hallam Land Management, are looking to appoint an individual to act in a joint Planning and Development role in their well established Bristol office.
We cannot emphasise enough that our client doesn't have any expectations that the ideal candidate will have existing experience in all areas of the role. The successful individual could come from a Town Planning background with some experience of working on Strategic Projects with strong planning policy knowledge, or alternatively could come from a land agency/land buying background with some experience of acquiring new strategic sites.
The focus of this business is to identify and contractually secure land which has the potential to fulfil future housing needs through residential and mixed-use development, and then promote it through the planning system to achieve new land allocations and planning permissions. This role will be responsible for assisting in managing and increasing the Strategic Land portfolio in the region.
The day to day role:
The identification of new strategic land opportunities and negotiation of legal agreements
Liaison with landowners
Working to acquire new strategic sites (generally either by Freehold Acquisition or Promotion Agreement).
Community engagement on site promotions and planning applications
Involvement of planning and acquisition activity
Taking ownership of project viability and delivery
Management of sub consultants
The Ideal candidate:
Will have a good understanding of government planning policy, the Local Plan process and housing land supply issues
Will be motivated to work "client side" in strategic land.
Will not necessarily have experience in all areas of the role but will have a genuine hunger to learn and develop.
Ideally recently RTPI or RICS accredited.
Indicative Salary Banding: £40,000 - £55,000 + car and bonus (salary banding is dependent upon experience).
